What is this award?
In 2000, the American Heart Association established the Howard L. Lewis Achievement Award to recognize and honor the career achievements of science, health and medical journalists who have documented the considerable progress made in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
This career achievement award was created in memory of Howard L. Lewis, who led the Association’s national science and media relation’s office for two decades.
Recipients are chosen by a panel of their peers, all past winners of the award. The judging panel reserves the right to not present an award should entries not meet the standards for career achievement.
